A study of 'hu' هو
A unique and complete collection of 28 works centred around the word ‘hu’ , created on 200-year-old paper with 18-karat gold leaf. These are authentic papers, originally taken from Saadi’s Bustan and Golestan manuscripts. Among these, 24 pieces are A4 size, and 4 pieces are approximately A3 size.
Several pages feature original lithographic prints, nearly impossible to find again. Some footnotes were not written by me the artist but added over time by previous owners. The works are presented without frames or passe-partouts.
About ‘hu' هو : ‘hu'’ originates from the Avestan language of Iran and is the root of the word honar (art), written in Persian as هو and هنر. In this collection, ‘hu’ is used in its Persian meaning, signifying good thought. The great poet Rumi also interpreted ‘ho' as the breath, similar to taking a deep inhale.
